The ongoing merger of the LCD monitor and LCD TV lines
in China means buyers must change the dynamics of their
sourcing strategy if they are to succeed, delegates at
a China Sourcing Fair: Electronics & Components conference
have been told.
The conference, "LCD monitors & TVs in China: A market
snapshot" was hosted by China analyst Bruce Humes. It
offered the inside track on manufacturing capability,
technology and product developments, and key future trends.
To gather first-hand market intelligence, Humes conducted
hundreds of on-site interviews at factories throughout
China.
Humes told delegates the industry structure is rapidly
changing and with LCD panel production soon completing
its move to mainland China, costs are likely to come down.
He said the overlap between the LCD monitor and TV industries
may drive costs down even further.
